During a missionary trip to Kamchatka in 1997, Vasiliy Tishchenko received a word from God — to serve those who had experienced rejection and pain, those who were broken, depressed, and oppressed, and those for whom the doors of the religious world had been forever closed.

After a long season of prayer and seeking God’s direction, in September 1999, Vasiliy, together with his wife Elena and their two young children, began a prayer ministry on Mount Love in Portland, Oregon. Each evening, they prayed faithfully for the lost and the hurting.

After three months, the Lord began to bring into their lives people who were in desperate situations — those searching for hope, struggling with discouragement, and longing for God’s touch.

On January 10, 1999, the church Love of God was officially founded. From that day on, the Lord began to add to the church those who were being saved. The first five years were marked by many trials, challenges, and difficulties, but despite it all, different ministries began to grow step by step, and a strong team of faithful servants was raised up. Year after year, the Lord continued to lead both the people and the church toward the fulfillment of His vision.

In 2001, when the congregation numbered only about seventy people, God opened the door for the church to purchase its own building — a tremendous blessing that created many new opportunities. Then, in 2007, despite many hardships and tests, the church completed construction of a new building.

Throughout these years, many lives have been transformed — people have found deliverance, repentance, and healing, and have become part of one large and blessed family: Love of God Church.

Today, the Lord continues to lead His church — that His plans and purposes may be fulfilled on this earth, that many would receive eternal life, and that prodigals would return to the Father’s house. This remains the heart, vision, and calling of everyone who belongs to Love of God Church.
